When a Hisense TV Blinks Red and Won’t Turn On: What Actually Works

I wasn’t doing anything special. Just sat down after a long day, turned on the TV like I always do, and waited. But this time the screen didn’t light up. No logo. No sound. Nothing. Just a little red light under the frame blinking at me. Slowly. Then again. And again.

I thought maybe it didn’t catch the signal. So I pressed the power button again. Nothing. Just the blinking.

I unplugged it. Waited a few seconds. Plugged it back in.

1. Unplug the TV from power

3. Wait at least 2 minutes
4. Plug it directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector
5. Turn it on

I did all of that. The light blinked once. Then stopped.

Then the logo appeared.

I didn’t believe it. I just sat there staring at the screen.

One More Thing That Caught Me Off Guard

After the TV came back, I started reconnecting things. HDMI from the cable box, the Fire Stick, the soundbar.

The moment I plugged the soundbar into HDMI ARC — red blinking again.

I unplugged it. The blinking stopped.

Turns out the soundbar was sending some weird signal during startup that caused the TV to lock up. The manual even mentioned that: “HDMI devices may interfere with startup. Disconnect and test.”

• Hold the power button on the TV (not the remote) for 15 seconds
• Wait 2 full minutes
• Plug it into a direct wall socket
• Turn it on

And if that doesn’t work, pull the HDMI cables, especially if you’re using ARC or CEC.

It might save you hours. It saved me.
